Welcome
What do health professionals need to know about genetics
for clinical practice?
Using sound educational principles, we have set out to answer
this question in collaboration and consultation with patients and
many healthcare groups.
On this website, learners and educators can find clear
statements about what is important to know and the activities to be
undertaken in clinical practice. It is particularly important to
identify people whose condition has a large genetic component
because specific clinical management may be helpful.
Learning and teaching are supported by resources (including
factsheets, videos, powerpoint presentations, telling stories and
case scenarios).
We also offer "Training the trainers" courses and "Teaching
genetics" courses, and support local educators through our network
of genetics education facilitators based in nine regional genetics
centres.
Building on our successes of the past, Centre Director
Prof Peter Farndon presents key initiatives
for 2010.
