Workforce competences report coverCompetence Framework

The nine competences below make up the framework. They describe a pathway of activities involving genetics knowledge, skills and attitudes which may be carried out by non-genetics healthcare staff. Few health professionals will need all the competences; only those relevant to an individual health professional's role should be selected. The competences give a broad overview - specific details (e.g. which genetic conditions, how a service operates) appropriate to the role being undertaken in a particular patient pathway need to be determined and agreed locally.
