Recurrent Miscarriages

One in five recognised pregnancies ends as a spontaneous miscarriage. Couples who have had three or more first trimester spontaneous miscarriages need further investigation. The most important genetic cause to exclude is a chromosome translocation, particularly if there is a family history of infertility, pregnancy losses or children with multiple anomalies. The couple should both be offered chromosome analysis.
